Hi Guys

I am looking for a decent gaming-oriented laptop within a 3500 PLN / 1200 USD price range, got my PC buld thanks to this forum and it runs great now I want to help a friend.

I am aware that this is mostly not enough to get a true hardcore gaming laptop and that some cuts need to be made, here is what we are looking for:

1. Budget - 1000$-1200$

2. 15-17" Screen, 1920x1080 screen

3. If it coulb be lightweight it would be great, we are looking for stuff under 3,5kg.

4. Battery Life is not the prime concern, it will work as a stationary most of the time and no heavy duty work will be done on battery.

5. SSD would be nice but we will be OK with anything that has at least 500GB space + drive slot or with a 750 GB / 1TB drive with no additional slots, as for RAM it has to be at least 8GB.

6. BlueRay not needed, ok if optional, standard DVDR will be ok, this will be used for gaming, mostly BF4 and Online MMO's, it would be nice to run them on ultra but as I said, this is already a limited budget.

7. No OS required.

2 finds that we got now is the MSI GX70 and the MSI GP70 (leaning towards the GX), the old Alienware 14" is also within price range but is too "gamish", this will be used as a work related PC with customer presentation so cannot afford to be too geeky :)

Hope I can get some other finds than the MSI GX70, this is the best within the price we currently got.

Regards

Lukas

MSI GX70 is heavily bottlenecked by the CPU, even tho it has an HD8970M it will reach framerates of an GT750M
MSI GP70 on the other hand is "ok" but lacks the gaming performance since it has only GT740M

your best bet would be to build your own laptop ( there are sites )
or if you want prebuild go for lenovo's Y510P with GT755M sli

lenovo's Y510P seems decent, any other suggestions?

And yes we need it prebuild as we have to buy it at a local store in Poland due to invoicing issues with the company my colleague works for.

To small in screen size and resolution, besides comparing to the MSI GX70 and the Y510P it looks just bad. Plus we have to pay for the useless WIN7 which we just don't need.

And the newer version with an i7 and a better GFX than a single GT750M costs way more that we can spend.
