OMG. Is it my impression or did someone actually suggest boiling your nuts as a contraceptive????

Voegeli's program for temporary sterilization is as follows: "A man sits in a [shallow or testes-only] bath of 116 degrees Fahrenheit for forty-five minutes daily for three weeks. Six months of sterility results, after which normal fertility returns. For longer sterility, the treatment is repeated" (Corea, 1985 p. 179). Water at 116˚ Fahrenheit (46.7˚ Celsius) was found to reliably produce at least six months of sterility (Voegeli, 1956). Water at lower temperatures produced shorter periods of infertility; for example, water at 110˚ produced at least four months of infertility.

It may sound crazy, but never underestimate what humans will do. Heat does kill sperm, and so it only follows that to boil the 'eggs' may help with birth control.

This is true. When in Vietnam, there was a guy who wanted to get out of country. His idea? Soak his testicles in mogas (a military mix of gas and diesel) 2x a day. He did get out of country, but he left, but...

Dont get me wrong, I am not a religous nut. but the only way to be 100% sure is not have sex. here are the real facts.

1. condoms break. even when properly applied.
2. even when taken properly the "pill" is only 90% effective.
3. IUD's can come out.
4. the pull out method doesnt work, sooner or later you will miss or experience premature ejaculation.
5. The 110 degree, boiling water, a.k.a. testicle soup method will burn your spaldings and make you wish you were dead, not make you infertile.
6. doctors can screw up a vasectomy, or if you dont wait long enough after the operation the remaining sperm are still viable.
7. the World of Warcraft, not showering for 3 days, smelling like you were on a 7 day bender of mountain dew and pizza method is fairly effective, because no one wants to have sex with you. except of girls that also like WOW, and staying up all night crack out of thier minds on Mountain Dew. but they would rather play WOW than have sex anyway.

personally I hope this new method works and is afordable. if it is the worlds population will go down extreamly fast. from like 6 billion - 0 in less that 100 years!

This method is now in its initial stage of researching, still far far away from the real world practice just like any other tech. At the end, its goal wants to find a way to pause production of sperm for a period of time, of course, it wouldn't be aproved to go public if not safe.

It provides ONE of the many options to birth control, it's your choice to use condom, to take pills, and hey, some females get bad reaction on these pills, why we men can't take this if it will work safely one day?

If ultrasound will do this to your nads why are people getting ultrasound on babies. It may be harmful somehow or cause baby future problems.

If I spray you with a garden hose you're not gonna get hurt. If I spray you with a high powered water cannon, you just might. Both cases we're just spraying water, but the amount and force is different.

Same principle with the ultrasound.

omg, and i thought that the whole Apple+Steam suggestion was bad, blasting my balls with anything sounds 10x worse. I wonder what idiot they got/will get to test this theory out on lol.

And the only way to be 100% sure you won't get run over by a car is to never go out of your house. It's enough to be 99% sure. For that remaining 1% there's abortion. For a majority of people having sex is simply worth the risk of pregnancy and most of STDs. That's why they keep doing it even when they know all the risks, even when they take abstinence pledges and preach about the "evils" of sexual promiscuity.

Many people don't even think about contraception. They just go have sex and only realize they screwed up after the girl comes back and says she's pregnant. Modern contraceptive methods are quite effective when used properly, most of the unintended pregnancies that result are from people who don't use any contraception (~20% chance of getting pregnant each month you do that) or did not properly use their contraception- mostly the former.

1. condoms break. even when properly applied.[/citation]

Yes they can, but on average, they are about 90% effective in preventing pregnancy over 12 months of use. Compare that to 15% of people who use no protection becoming pregnant over 12 months.

2. even when taken properly the "pill" is only 90% effective.

It varies by the particular pill being used, but the figures are closer to 98% in average usage (meaning occasional skipped pills).

3. IUD's can come out.

Rarely. The woman would also almost certainly know it had come out and know not to have sex until she is on some other contraceptive method.

4. the pull out method doesnt work, sooner or later you will miss or experience premature ejaculation.

That is correct, coitus interruptus is not effective.

5. The 110 degree, boiling water, a.k.a. testicle soup method will burn your spaldings and make you wish you were dead, not make you infertile.

Incorrect. It is a generally effective method but it is cumbersome to use, which is why few do it.

6. doctors can screw up a vasectomy, or if you dont wait long enough after the operation the remaining sperm are still viable.

Vasectomy failure rates are roughly 1 in 1000. Most of the failures are due to people not waiting long enough after the procedure to have sex rather than a failure of the vasectomy itself.

7. the World of Warcraft, not showering for 3 days, smelling like you were on a 7 day bender of mountain dew and pizza method is fairly effective, because no one wants to have sex with you. except of girls that also like WOW, and staying up all night crack out of thier minds on Mountain Dew. but they would rather play WOW than have sex anyway.

I'll have to take your word for that one...

personally I hope this new method works and is afordable. if it is the worlds population will go down extreamly fast. from like 6 billion - 0 in less that 100 years![/citation]

No. There are already very effective contraceptive methods out there today and the population keeps rising. The human urge to reproduce and the human urge to be lazy are the most powerful things out there. Add the two together and you have people who are too lazy to seek out contraception going out and having sex. The population is in no danger of shrinking precipitously.

Blast my balls and test my Testes.... the test subject say's to the doctor with a smile on his face. LOL!!!

Is it just me or does it seem like the only reason this is being made is because of some feminist moaning about how THEY have to take the pill?

It doesn't stop STDs, so you still need condoms, and frankly the pill works well enough that I'm not ever getting my balls zapped. If you're dating a girl and she asks you to get your sack zapped because women shouldn't have to take the pill, leave her.

End of story.

I'm glad that Bill is a cool guy though and he's at least trying to help. Most people that rich don't do jack.

[citation][nom]MU_Engineer[/nom] ... I wish Gates' guys luck, but I'm not getting my hopes up too much as the physiology of male contraception makes it a real tough nut to crack.[/citation]
I see what you did there.

[citation][nom]70camaross396[/nom]D... 5. The 110 degree, boiling water, a.k.a. testicle soup method will burn your spaldings and make you wish you were dead, not make you infertile....[/citation]

110F is not boiling, it's only ~43. Pretty warm, but hardly boiling.

Yes, I agree. Actually the most suitable method for me would be the 110 degree ball soup. After all, it's a proven method, no side effects, no permanent damage, and infertility for 6 months. I guess If I don't want to have babies in the next 3 years, drowning my testes in 110 degrees water for 45 minutes every six months would work out very well, cheap and apparently reliably. And hey, did I mention CHEAP?
