Gateway Black screen

i have a gateway laptop and i put the restore disk in it to restore it and now i get a black screen but everything else works you can hear the cd and the fan runing but all i get is a black screen when i power it up I can hit the f8 when i power up and nothing all i get is a black screen.

If the screen is always black, never shows anything from the moment you switch on, it usually means the screen's backlight and/or inverter board have failed.

Either can be replaced by a competent person who knows where to get the correct parts, and also knows how to fit them without breaking anything.
