Gateway M255-E SATA Controller Drivers

Not sure if I am posting in the right place but...

Need Help please!

Looking to see which driver we need for Gateway M-255E computer... SATA Control drivers...

Computer Information:

Gateway M255-E
Hitachi HTS541040G9SA00
Windows XP Home edition

Cant boot into device manager as computer does not boot...

These are the choices:
Intel(R) 82801GR/GH SATA RAID Controller (Desktop ICH7R/DH)
Intel(R) 82801GR/GH SATA AHCI Controller (Desktop ICH7R/DH)
Intel(R) 82801GBM SATA AHCI Controller (Mobile ICH7M)
Intel(R) 82801FR SATA RAID Controller (Desktop ICH6R)
Intel(R) 82801FR SATA AHCI Controller (Desktop ICH6R)
Intel(R) 82801FBM SATA AHCI Controller (Mobile ICH6M)
Intel(R) 82801ER SATA RAID Controller (Desktop ICH5R)
Intel(R) 6300ESB SATA RAID Controller

Anyone know which one I use or how I can find out without looking in device manager?

Why can't you look at the Device Manager? You can also a third-party system inspector app like this one: http/www.gtopala.com/

I was unable to boot the computer as stated in the op.

Problem solved.... Streamlined all drivers into xp cd and system booted to setup detecting the hard drive. Thanks...

Hi, in order to help future Googlers, there is an easy way to tell what driver you need: boot into an older version of Ubuntu (I used 9.04 so it would boot quickly) and run this command:

[cpp]lspci | grep SATA[/cpp]

Works like a charm.
