Gateway MX7118 Laptop Problem

Has anyone had the problem of turning on the power button, buttons light up, screen does not, then after about 5 seconds the lights go out...but....then it powers back up for another 5 seconds...then...just shuts down?? Best Buy said it was motherboard...so I put in a new one. Laptop worked good for about an hour or two, then the laptop started acting just like it did before I R&R'd the MB. Back to square one..again

If a new board has started presenting the same symptoms, you might be looking at either a faulty AC adapter, or faulty battery.

Faulty as incorrect output of charger?? Could I just measure that?? Battery really has no way to test..correct?? Thanks
