First off, MacBook Pro? Lame. Lame, lame, lame. Would I like one as a gift? Sure. I'd just turn around and sell it on Ebay to some snobby know nothing who doesn't mind paying way to much for what he's getting.

Oh yeah, and screw both the Storm (Windows Mobile? Lame) and the i(diot)Phone (you can take your DRM and nazi-esque regulation of apps . I won't even tell you where you can stick it). My wife is getting me the gift of complete mobile freedom with the Android powered G1, the best consumer smart phone on the market.

Every other gift SUCKS!!! :)

TheJerk,
The fact that you don't know that the BlackBerry Storm DOES NOT run Windows Mobile really makes the rest of your opinions moot. But thanks for sharing.

You're immediate write off of every person who chooses a MacBook Pro as a "snobby know nothing" indicates you're clearly one yourself.

That's just like a BMW driver saying that every Honda driver is poor and every Honda driver saying a BMW driver is a snobby know nothing.

Don't like the suggestions? No problem. No one held a gun to your head and asked you to buy it anyway. And the author even said he wouldn't buy one, but would take one as a gift.

RTFA.

You people in California must have a lot more cash than you have brains. Chris Angelini, the Thecus N5200 Pro? Really? Come on. Why not just buy my friends new cars for their birthdays while I'm at?

Look, I don't care what the author does with the MacBook. I wasn't commenting on his actions or opinion, but on the product itself (which is an overpriced piece of junk that know-nothings tend to buy for its "cool-factor", or in other words, its supposed capacity to make other people think the user thereof is "cool." Which is, of course, their right. Just as it is my right to think that they are snobs and to say so).

And was I complaining about being compelled to buy a MacBook by some outside force? At any point did you hear from me the lament, "oh woe is me, for I have been compelled at gun point to buy a useless MacBook and waste all that money when I could have saved $500 and bought a Dell for the same purpose?" No. I merely expressed the opinion that the MacBook is an over-priced piece of crap that snobs buy so that other snobs will accept them and to try to get peons like me to look up to their obviously superior tech-savyness.

I love how Mac users come out of the woodwork, going out of their way to feel and sound defensive any time someone says they don't like Macs.

Oh, and my bad about the freakin' blackberry. The new blackberry storm is the most overrated bunch of crap since the last blackberry. Who ever heard of a blackberry without a qwerty keyboard? They are trying to hard to be another iPhone and I for the life of me can't figure out why.

I have a great line on some new Hot Wheels. What kind do you think they'd like?

Shocking... nobody surfed over to http://www.bang-olufsen.com/ to pick out gifts?

I mean, if I'm picking something from daddy warbucks for myself, price is no object. If I'm buying, well then bang for the buck, keep it under $14.99 ;-)

It wasn't really clear what the bias for this list was...

I think its really cool of you guys to share what u want for xmas and what ur thinking of giving to other ppl...(gave me some ideas 😉 )
To ppl nagging about the presents: come one guys its just what they wish for.. im pretty sure we all want things that other ppl would find pretty lame also

You must be a Windows user...LAME! Come back after learning how to use a real OS (ie, UNIX/Linux). I don't think I've ever met a real power user that actually uses a windows machine, only fanboy gamers that announce their own insecurities by calling other people LAME.

On the other hand, a lot of developers/programmers and network engineers are being drawn to Apple (IMHO) NOT because of it's wow appeal (that's just an added bonus) but because they (we) have the ability to access the underlying UNIX platform via the terminal w/o the hassle of installing some 3rd party crap that might destabilize the entire OS.
