I'm currently going into my 2nd year of college and am wondering what laptop I should get for the next 3 years of school. I already have a desktop build at home (i7-4790k, 980ti, 16gb of ram, etc.) in which I can do a lot work on. My concern is that I'm going to spend $800+ on a laptop that I don't even need since I already have a powerful rig at home. Any suggestions for a laptop would be great! :)

Just get something cheap and portable.
You don't need anything beefy for coding at all - yet.
Sure you'll be doing some compiling, but it just doesn't take that long to compile the simple programs you'll start out with.
