Hello,
I am looking for a good laptop in the $600 and below range. I've been looking at the HP Pavilion dv6zqe, but I didn't know if AMD processors were good. Can you recommend some good laptops?
The A6-3400M APU will hit 2.3Ghz on only a few cores (turbo mode) and a light load.
Under a normal multi-threaded, moderately heavy work load it's going to run 4 cores at 1.4Ghz.
i3-2410 CPU will run at 2.1Ghz all the time except when it slows to to save power under a light load.
A i3 CPU @ 2.1Ghz core will do a LOT more IPS (instructions per second) than a APU core @ 2.3Ghz. i3 CPU with 2 cores will do more IPS than A6 with four APUs, which is why it's benchmark scores are higher.
Oh yeah, and I'm looking for one with at least 500 gb storage, hopefully 6 GB ram, a dvd drive, a processor with 2.3 GHz and dual or quad core. I would want to watch movies and play some internet games, and sims 3 on medium or high setting.
I think you really want to avoid those dual core A4-3300 IdeaPad Z575 or Satellite L775D laptops JOEmAmA069 mentions. The A6-3400 or i3-2310M models you've been looking at are the same price with better performance.
So, right now I am either getting the dv6z with AMD A6 or the dv6t with intel i3 sandybridge. The dv6z comes with an extra 140 gb and bluray playing abilities and better graphics, but the dv6t has a better cpu. Which is better?
