Hey,

Been looking for a long time to get a good pair of headphones. It's kind of hard to try before I buy where I live because all the stores have out is 300 dollar bose or various brands that have BASS in massive letters on the front of the box. I'm looking for a good, inexpensive set that will be true to the music.

Details:
Budget - looking around 100, will go as high as 150.
Usage - In home, walking.
Style - On ear only. I hate earbuds. Never once had a pair that didn't fall out constantly. Corded, I don't care for bluetooth.
Music - A little bit of everything here. Rock, Metal, Country, Hip hop, some rap, Electronic, Blues, Jazz. When I say true to the music I'm more worried about instrumental songs such as rock, metal, blues. I have found that the sound of digitally created genres like hip hop, rap, electronic, relies more on the person making it than the speakers. I've especially noted that songs that have a lot going on like metal depend largely on your set up for quality.

Currently the headphones I have are those sony mdrz100 (i think), the 20 dollar walmart headphones. I've been considering the MDRV6 but would like suggestions. Thanks!

Also, Just for future reference I wouldn't mind suggestions on more expensive sets as well.

I really like the idea of earbuds that create the seal in your ear. I have a pair that, considering they came with my phone, sound pretty good. Only issue is they don't stay sealed no matter what size tips I use and once they slide a millimeter there goes all of the quality! I've heard sennheiser spoken of very highly. The only thing I don't like about the ones posted is the open back. For when I'm not in the house I wouldn't want to be broadcasting my music to everybody! I'm picky I know...

I forgot to mention to check how they sound. Bring along a selection of music, especially something with a voice only (Suzanne Vega - Toms Diner for example) and listen to the differences.

Beats are nice sounding but they use an amplifier / EQ to boost certain frequencies (THUMP THUMP), you also already have an EQ in your ipod/iphone/galaxy/etc.

If you travel on the bus / train often you might want to consider active noise cancelling.

Cheers

Anybody have an opinion on Sennheiser 280? I'm looking between that, AT MTH-50X, the MDRV6 is still on the table, and the SR60i. I've read thet the MDR7506 is the same as the MDRV6 minus some base and they are 30 dollars cheaper. The Audio Technica's are if i decide to spend an extra 70 dollars though.
