It's probably what I would buy if I had $500 to spend on a netbook: I have an older Eee PC and so far it's been fine other than the wireless chip not having good Linux support.

That said, $500 or not much more could buy you a full-sized laptop these days if you don't need the small size of the netbook. If you're spending that much it's worth considering.
