[citation][nom]jimmysmitty[/nom]The worst downside to the open platform is bugs. Thats how it has been for Windows since it has to be developed to support a wide combination of hardware. Android is no different. But in that also lies choice which thus means competition and lower prices and better stuff.Closed, much like Apples products, biggest downside is that you can only do what they say you can do and nothing more. They control the hardware and the software. This also means they control the price. Its much like the rumored thinner Mac Book Air. $1200 bucks but doesn't have nearly the features of a $1200 dollar laptop. In fact it mostly seems to match a $300 dollar Netbook more than anything.I am a little tired of Jobs though. He seems to be getting into attack mode. I think he knows that iOS isn't going to retain the market share much longer and will have to actually compete with Android and WP7. And he doesn't like it at all.[/citation]

You're making it sound like Closed systems, "such as apple products",
don't have bugs. Check the Apple forums and see how many problems they're having with their gadgets... that is if Apple haven't already deleted those posts.

seriously toms, it's bad enough the poor steve jobs gets flamed all the time, but at least do something about these spammers. ridiculous.

anyway, I for one think Steve Jobs is awesome. If I can accomplish even .00001 percent of what's he's done for Apple, I would turn around and say fcuk you to every single person that even raised their eye brow at me. I would walk around like my shit don't stink, voice my opinions (even if they're flawed, controversial, and probably aimed at bashing opponents for increased sales), and speak my mind, regardless of how rude/embarrassing/politically incorrect/offensive etc etc it may be.

Good for you Jobs. Give the finger to who ever you like, you've earned it.

Excellent responses from Rubin and Dodsworth, in under 140 characters they completely disarmed Steve's 5 minute outpouring of ingrown-ego diarrhoea.

Yet you won't see this response in other media outlets. The big media outlets just LOVE Jobs...they'll cover ANY crap that spews forth from his mouth.

You sound like your nose is in between Steve Job's but cheeks. That is what I call "Real" brown nosing.

Most of us already acomplished more than .01 percent of what Jobs did and or have. And thats not the .00001 you stated. You know why? because we are alive, eat, shit, sleep, have sex (some of us do), own cars, houses, etc..exactly like Jobs. And to be more accurate, depending on your morals and beliefs, some of us have acomplished more than Steve Jobs will ever in his entire life - aka Martin Luther King, Albert Einstein, Ghandi, Alexander Flemming(discovered penicillin)etc,. The only thing Jobs have going for him is Money. You see where I am going with this? And yes we all want money as well because it makes the world go round and round but some of us don't need money - like perfectly happy people of the amazons etc. Other than that...he's no different from anyone of us. So please, I find your comment rather ludicris.

[citation][nom]TA152H[/nom]For Apple users, there's a huge advantage to the simplicity and ease of getting what they want, and using their machines.[/citation]
Provided they only want what Jobs wants them to, and not be creative users with individual needs.

You are talking about Apple fans, they only need what the collective need.

One of the best posts I have ever read from any Tech Sites!!!

http://www.dailytech.com/Apples+Jobs+Any+Tablet+That+Dares+Compete+With+the+iPad+is+Dead/article19925.htm

Eric Schmidt: No more products do you require. Already know you, that which you need.
MrBlastman: Then I am an Android.
Schmidt: No. Not yet. One thing remains. Jobs. You must confront Jobs. Then, only then, an Android will you be. And confront him you will.

Schmidt: Remember, an Android's strength flows from the open source. But beware. Poor build quality, exclusive deals, false advertising. Marketing are they. Once you start down the marketing path, forever will it dominate your business practices. MrBlastman... MrBlastman... do not... do not underestimate the powers of the share holder or suffer your father's fate you will. MrBlastman, when gone am I... the last of the Androids will you be. MrBlastman, the open source runs strong in your family. Pass on what you have learned, MrBlastman. There is... another... Open... Source.
[Schmidt dies]

Jon Rubinstein, of Jobs: He's more machine now than man; twisted and evil.

Steve Jobs: You cannot hide forever, MrBlastman.
MrBlastman: I will not fight you.
Jobs: Give yourself to the iSide. It is the only way you can save your friends. Yes, your thoughts betray you. Your feelings for them are strong. Especially for... fork. So, you have a new project fork. Your feelings have now betrayed it, too. Rubinstein was wise to hide it from me. Now his failure is complete. If you will not turn to the iSide... then perhaps it will...
MrBlastman: [loads Gingerbread, screams] NO!

Anyone else a little confused about the fragmintation thing .. last I checked there are apps that are available on iTunes that cant run on iTouches but can run on iPhones, apps that don't scale correctly from iPhones to iPads. And this is all in a closed controlled environment .. yet Apple still has fragmintation. So what is jobs trying to say? He has issues with fragmintation and only has 3 hardware platforms to deal with.

Also, most apps written for Android do scale quite nicely between handsets (without having to write the code for different platforms). Jobs makes it sound like you have to compile 244 versions ... were talking about a few extra lines of code to adjust for screen sizes here in the same package. This is something a 2nd-year CS student can handle. Android has the same issues that the iPhone-to-iPad scaling causes where graphics quality decreases as it scales .. confused.

This is actually quite brilliant. His comment about Windows doing it right got me thinking about where this could all head. Once WP7 comes out, he can praise them for controlling the OS. He probably does not view WP7 as much as a threat so he can afford to do this. By doing this he can start a WP7 vs Android war. Instigating more fighting between those camps could lead to Android not having the domination that it could. Meanwhile in i world, Apple buyers will continue to buy Apple allowing iOS to dominate.

I remember seeing a pic of Bill Gates als locutus of Borg... maybe Bill should be replaced by jobs, and the apple users as drones!
