Since it seems like Google is becoming the new Microsoft (if a seemingly more altruistic one), lets hope that they don't decide to enter the console market. PC gaming is already having enough trouble as it is.

I wonder if they plan to pick up a development firm too, they have the capital to do it and it would be pretty sweet to see some higher end games backed by google, might let some smaller developers get a piece of the pie.

Google's version of Onlive? Super 1337 scalable gaming engine where they can dynamically insert Ads? Digital Distribution? It could be anything. Or most likely a mediocre app churner-outer for all the tablets coming out soon running android.

on the contrary it wouldnt be bad for some new blood in the console market. Maybe they can offer things that PC users want, make a console more like a PC and less of a dedicated gaming system.

Google? Games? Oh, pleaase.

Google must be THE most intimidating, dull and emotionless technology company out there. As somebody in the games industry, it's always so frustrating to see companies jumping into the games sector clearly interested in grabbing as much profit as possible rather than to actually make any kind of innovative contributions to it.

Since when has Google not tried to be innovative? Sure they buy lots of ideas, and enter whatever markets are popular, but they're trying everything. Gmail was quite innovative, and they're still working on new tweaks for it. And we have absolutely no idea what they'll be doing with games. Maybe they'll be like the club bing games, maybe like Steam, maybe they want to make a console, maybe they just want the guys insight on life, the universe, and everything, but you don't know that they won't do something amazing. Intimidating maybe, but dull and emotionless I personally don't think so.

Unless they are powered by the souls of people trapped behind a dam.
