How is the battery life? And when playing games, using apps how fast does it drain? How long does it take to get back to full charge?

Dislike:
-the way the security feature for locking the phone (a certain finger-swipe patter than you create to unlock the phone) only lets you try to swipe 3 times before it locks you out.

What exactly do you mean by this? a "a finger-swipe patter"?

Yes, google maps works largely the same way that it does on the iPhone. A search feature integrated into the maps. We finally took the GPS for a spin: it took a little more effort to get a signal lock than it does with the iphone, but once it locked on, it worked fine. we liked the way the directions were laid out better on the G1 than on the iphone.

Mitchell,
Can't answer this question for you yet, but I can say that we've been using it on and off for the entire day (much more than you would use your cell phone during the course of a business day at a desk job, for instance), and the battery hasn't died yet-- so that's nearly 10 hours.

Apologies for the typo. I intended to write "Finger-pattern." You can specify an action or shape to be drawn on the touchscreen to unlock it (the phone can be set to automatically lock after a given period of time). I think this is a neat feature, but its not always easy to duplicate this drawn pattern perfectly every time. You should get more than 3 chances before it locks you out.

I have a G1 and I would like to know how I can "close" a program, and also how do I turn the cellphone radio off but keep the wifi on. Also is there a shortcut to get the thing to go on vibrate?

My wife loves the G1 so much. I was actually mine but she wants it badly. The features are nice. The only problem is the battery life span. We do a 3x changing everyday. It runs out of juice after 3 - 4 hours. Regular use like phone calls and 3G. The makers of G1 didn't anticipate the battery life span, only 3 - 4 hours of use. Customer service said to turn offtooth and 3G if not using it. Why do i need to turn off, the G1 phone was design to use those features because you are constantly receiving emails, text messages etc. I only have 30 days and will return it. It a good phone but the battery time fails. They said wait to the Motorola phone Android version

Fantastic thread... I have to buy a new phone for Christmas ... I am contemplating between an Iphone 3G and the G1 ... can you tell me five reasons (if there are any) why i should pick the G1 over the iphone? Camera...vid recording...music are a must for me.

Thank you.

hey i downloaded some lame app but i dont know how to delete it. Id really appreciate it, thanks.

* Can the lockout attempts for the finger-pattern swipe be increased from the default of 3?

* A customer with a G1 told me of a barcode reading program which allows you to comparison shop over the net. (Killer app!) Have you tested it. How well does it work?
