Umm you have to sign up for it and it's not like the burglars can't just go to your business and check it out in person anyway.

[citation][nom]scanlia[/nom]Coool![/citation]
LOL just what i was thinking, also to ubduct children they just type in the phone number... and bam they have house view...

[citation][nom]halls[/nom]I think it's cool. The business has to sign up for it, and people's faces are blurred out anyway. Could be a great way for potential customers to check out a shop/restaurant beforehand.[/citation]
this face is blurred, im sure there not going to set there all day and blur out faces..

facial recognition automatically blurs.

Just look for a KFC and see the colonel is blurred.

...but it also means that the burglar can case the joint without ending up on surveillance cameras [in the store and perhaps near-by stores, not sure how much of that CSI stuff really happens :)].

Also, if you were never in the store otherwise, then employees aren't likely to recognize you of ypu are picked up as a suspect.

With permission, and while requiring that no people are in the picture: Cool, not creepy...

However, with people there (and their faces blurred) creepy. Even faces blurred, long time employees could be identified, and even with consent, it is creepy...

Also, while Google can own those photos (as is standard with photo contracts) should an owner ever want these photos removed, they should DEMAND the right to, on the fly, have the ability to do that...

[citation][nom]elbert[/nom]This would be cool if Google could introduce a click-able sales system. Company's could just upload new 360 degree views when they change products. Virtually walk though would be much better than any sales site as you often over look things you may want. This would reduce the frustration of older buys who have trouble working though the hierarchical links in current web sites.[/citation]
I like this idea: Google's version of IBM's Maximo Navigator...

can someone tell me why this is ever creepy?

street view, i get to have a better understanding of where something is located, visually, as i suck at reading a map, i suck at reading directions, and a gps can only get you so close.

o no, my photo is on the interents.... i dont understand whats bad about that? now if they are actively stalking you, i could see that, but are people going to be mad about fox for being able to see some people in the stands during a football game? no, most people challenge their family and friends to find them.

street view for homes, again i still don't get the problem... burglars... like they dont drive around to fin the best places to hit anyway... you live in an expensive home, people will target you, you live in the middle class, is going to be someone you most likely know robing you, and if you live in an apartment, its going to be someone from the street, not someone who did months of planning and flew cross country to get to you.

and whats the problem here?
are they photographing you in a porno shop? is it embarrassing for people to know you eat food and shop like the rest of the humans... now i know some places, like a porno shop, abortion clinic, or a gynecologists office, those places you dont want your photo taken, but at a... what is that, ice cream shop?

let me guess, no one who complains about this ever leaves their home or shops, or works, because security cameras are everywhere and their photos will be taken.

Why would it be creepy?

A - Its OPT-IN only
B - Its for business/retail.
C - It can be handy to meet people at a place you have not been to before (meet me at the left column near the stair well)

D - Restaurants would love it - it shows their atmosphere, quality

E - If the actually do an stripper joint... again, empty of people - it wouldn't be a big deal. And if you are 18+, you can go anyway. Stripper joint = big room with 1-3+ poles, 1-3+ walkways, dancing lights and a bunch of chairs. Maybe some bars. Thats about it.
