Is this statistic just like browser market share? I mean, Google shoves G+ down Google services users just like they shove Chrome as bloatware in other programs. I wonder how many G+ "users" don't even know they have a G+ account.

News of Google+'s success is such crap. I literally know no one who uses it. The only reason it's so "successful" is because Google tries to force everyone who uses their services to open a Google+ account. If you have Gmail, you pretty much automatically get a Google+ account. I have one and I've never used it. Now I can't even review apps on my One X without logging in with a Google+ account. That's gotta be in breach of antitrust or something.

Reviews on google maps are a good idea. You can browse a new restaurant fairly easily and you can have a clue about some shops.

But for the rest... social networks are awful... internet for friends is awful.

I am actually one of the few that uses G+ regularly. I don't have a Facebook account due to privacy concerns and the fact that everyone and their dog/baby is on there. I have about 20 friends on it that actually use it occasionally, though to be fair the only reason that they use it is because a couple of us don't have Facebook accounts. If G+ ever becomes even nearly as popular as Facebook I'll probably get rid of my account. I only like it to post the odd interesting link, etc. If people start using it for 'status updates' like in Facebook, I'll have to de-friend them.

Don't kid yourselves people. Google+ has gotten lots better in only the past few months. As far as I'm concerned the addition of communities was the clincher. I'm using it all the time now. Hangouts are great for familiy, my wife and I are using that a lot now. We just did a hangout with us (NY), her parents (Hawaii) and her brother (Taiwan) and it was completely painless and easy.

There are certain types of people/groups flocking to G+ right now. Photographers are a big one. Photography is big hobby of mine and I am seeing a heavy shift in the photo community to G+. I'm sure there are other interests doing the same.

I find it a bit funny that no one has commented yet on what the point of the social network is.

Is it for marketing
is it for just telling everyone random BS from your life that no one in their right mind would care about
is it for making yourself feel better that you have hundreds of virtual friends yet you don't see a real one
or am I just missing the concept of a social network entirely
