Having spoken with their engineering team, I can say a few things that are very likely to happen:
1) First edition will not be autonomous in the traditional sense, it will be very much like the DYI drones (now 3DR) ardupilot devices.
2) No plans for dedicated stabilization yet
3) Going to be very similar to the 3DR Solo
4) They are interested in adding a follow mode, perhaps in a later model.

That would be interesting. I'm surprised they wouldn't pull out all of the stops to catch up!
