It's a seemingly impossible task..the script creators are being pulled in
different directions, and one can understand their reservations..
. Trying to re-create, in film, something that's already been copied or
created in various forms.
. The actors themselves are as fake, just like their latest plastic
surgery..
. Logistics: all the props, actors and studio time couldn't bring back
something that big, especially in a 2HR film.
. Demographics. Trying to convince the present to suddenly start living in
the past doesn't always work. It works in the game because it's interactive.
. The plot. It's a game, so the audience will want the storyline to follow
the game and in a convincing way.
. As mentioned, the Hollywood money men. Some of them do not care what they
shovel as long as the cash rolls in. Same for the actors.
So perhaps CGI is the way to go..the lesser of two evils, etc. Maybe a
combination of real-world sets and CGI. With CGI you have an open
canvass..the ability to go back and make alterations, incorporate many
elements from the game without having to folk out on studio sets or
associated paraphernalia from decades gone by. The expectations are too high
and real-world scenes won't deliver them, in my opinion.
Just my 2c.
