Can I upgrade my graphics card? Bought laptop for work, want to do some gaming now as well. Graphics card is my bottleneck. Don't want to spend a grand but don't want too many limitations on my gaming experience. Thanks in advance.

Core I7-4710MQ
16GB-1600
AMD FirePro M5100
Windows 7 Pro

the GPU is fixed onto the motherboard, not upgradable I'm afraid.

You cannot upgrade the graphics card in that laptop. Sorry. The only way to get a better one is to sell that laptop and either buy a new one or build a desktop.

You could build a desktop computer yourself for about 600$ that would be able to play a lot of new games. You could use your copy of windows from the laptop which isn't technically legal but eh.

Bummer, man. Guess I'll have to buy a desktop for gaming. Thank you both for the answers.

Thank you. I'll probably just buy a pre-made desktop, if I find a site/company that customizes. Any recommendation there is appreciated.

IbuyPower.com is decent, but you really should try building one yourself.

I know I should. I'm just lost on what case and motherboard to start with. The other components I can handle.

The case is really more of a personal preference, I like the more exciting end, really like the Corsair C70 in green for example, for the motherboard, there isn't that much of a advantage to getting a really high end one unless you plan to use all the extra features, pick a CPU and find a decent midrange board that works well with it

But at the same time, don't spend less than 60$ on the motherboard. You will regret it later.
