Hi, I am going through my first week of college and I am going to require a laptop for some of my classes. My budget is around 800-1000$ I would really like one that has very good cooling. Have an ssd to run my apps but also at least a 1tb harddrive. A 15 inch screen. A pretty good battery life. At least an I5 with 16 GB of ram. Since I would like to play games I would prefer something like a 1050
wow, what a list for under 1000... have to look around. gaming is going to be possibly pricey. For my son, i sent him to university with a fast notebook for school work, research, etc and an XBox One and PS4... LOL so, he never has issues gaming, he just turns it on and GAME TIME (XBox can keep everything updated in background and off hours)
a cheap HDMI switch connects everything, his laptop, and all consoles.
realistically, gaming is going to cause heating and other stability issues and it is not important to schoolwork, PC should be focused for school work only. Fast notebooks can be had on the cheap, consoles are not too expensive and I bet you already have one.
I see a scenario where you game messes up your box and you can't boot and lose your homework. lol
Hello, I am going to need a laptop for college and I was told to come here and for oppinions.
1) Good cooling
2) 16 GB ram
3) at least an I5 processor
4) Good enough graphic card to run games like witcher
5) 15 inch screen
6) 6-8 hour battery life
7) 256 ssd and 1 tb harddrive
Also was looking into this one but idk if it's good. It only has 12 GB so idk if that's ok. Also if I should buy it from Amazon or not
Gaming laptop and 6-8hours of battery life is almost impossible. 4 hours is more about what you can expect.
16gb of ram is an issue since most laptops that have 16gb of ram are quite a bit higher priced since they assume you don't need 16gb of ram when you "just" get a gtx 1050ti and i5. Best you can do is get an extra stick of ram.
Other than the one you found there really isn't another laptop (except the next gen version of the one you listed) that fit in you budget and do most of the things you want.
