The article failed to mention after this greenpeace went on to throw acid on a litterer, punched a baby for sound pollution, and jihaded a fishing boat. All for the sake of the planet. Thanks greenpeace!

Greenpeace uses coal power to generate spam emails and pollute the internet. This also further encourages the use of coal power as I have to receive and delete said email. It generates more battery wastes as my cel phone wears out faster from deleting all their requests for money after repeatedly asking to be removed from their mailing list. Finally, all those WiFi transmissions are creating more EM pollution and causing birds to run into cel phone towers. I guess they need a little hint themselves. It is possible to over analyze anything until someone looks guilty. At least Apple isn't begging me to give them money 4 times a week.

Meanwhile China is putting a new coal plant online every day, WITHOUT and sort of clean air technology. We could stop ALL emissions in North America and one year from today would still have more pollution worldwide thanks to China alone. Perhaps Greenpeace should STFU about Apple, or any other company and focus on the real polluters.

Ok, so as long as somebody else will in the future pollute more its okay to be the biggest polluter right now?

Um,.. you obviously are missing the point. US coal plants that power Apple are clean. Thy already have current pollution control technology and most use clean coal. They ARENT the problem, but Greenpeace is making it an issue to get publicity. Meanwhile, the real problem is going unnoticed because it doesn't benefit the hypocrites who are Greenpeace.

Do you honestly believe the shit you're shoveling? There is no such thing as "clean" coal. It's not just about the sulphur and the smoke - it's the carbon dioxide that's the main problem and burning coal inevitably releases carbon dioxide, whether you're in China or the America that you seem to think is so perfect. One day people like you will wake up to the mess you've made of the planet. And then you'll probably try to blame it on someone else, as usual.

So basically they want apple to buy clean wind and solar power for more money, but since the price is really for buying a carbon offset the actual power source wont change. Apple will pay more, greenpeace will be happy and nothing will change. Or is greenpeace demanding apple build a solar and/or wind array and battery storage bank at every location so their data centers so they are truly powered by net zero carbon energy sources?

Green Energy solutions today may have good intentions, but they are far from efficient and cost effective. Coal power plants have become much more efficient and emit much less pollution than in the past, granted they do have their drawbacks. Windmills are expensive and don't pay for themselves (the power they produce doesn't makeup for the build & maintenance cost until), ruin the landscape when in vast numbers, create loud noise and drive people insane if lived by due to the shadowing effect from the blades when the sun is out. We are going to continue to use more and more energy every year and some green movement trying to reduce our use is not addressing the problem. Energy and Natural Resources are among of the largest drivers of world economies, yet in America we prevent ourselves from capitalizing on them.

Seriously?!!? You are still believing the CO2 lies?
It has been shown that the global temperature is DECREASING!! and has been for the past DECADE!! Also, It has been warmer on this planet long before cars and coal plants ever showed up. Greenland was called that because it was once lush and green. They have found grape vines under glaciers from 10,000+ years ago meaning it was WARMER 10,000 YEARS AGO THAN IT IS TODAY!! Not to mention that the 'scientists' who are spouting the CO2 lies have been shown repeatedly to distort their data, hide it, and flat out lie about it. Also, the Greenhouse report summary from the UN was nothing like the actual report it was supposed to summarize. This being the reason that half the scientists took their names off of it.Or how about that the Sun, our source of heat, is actually going through a warm phase. It is hotter. Mars was hotter too, and then its too has been cooling slightly just like Earth. It is arrogant of people like you to think that the Earth, today in its present state, is perfect and should never change. The Earth has been going through cycles long before we showed up, and will continue to do so long after we are gone. I could go on about the CO2 lies, but I know you will never change your mind, because it is your religion. You will never believe anything to the contrary.

Finally, those solar cells, and windmills you seem to love are horrible for being 'green'. If you truly believe that CO2 is the devil, then you should know that between the sourcing of materials for them, manufacturing, and installing they have a CO2 footprint that will take over 60+ years to break even. The sad part is that the life of windmills is only 50 years. Get a clue and stop being a demagogue.

and finally you miss my point still. Go solar, go wind, go every 'green' energy source you can and the world will will be getting more pollution from one country alone (China) than we can undo by being 'green' You are worried about a pile of dust on your floor while a tornado rips your house up and swirls garbage all around you. Maybe you, and Greenpeace should focus on the bigger problems.

Apple has earned atrocious marks for environmental responsibility, but I guess their fellow hippies don't want to badmouth them.

If you believe in in global warming go and review the Georgia Grindstones, then read all Gore's book earth in balance. Then watch all the Bill Gates Seminars on depopulation. Just living is the problem, you will never be clean enough for the gaia.

isn't coal considered green energy?...from what i recall there are a lot of advertisements on tv showing the public that coal is green and efficient energy....greenpeace and all of those idiots can stick it where the energy from the coal does not shine

This is the same GreenPeace that singled out Apple NC data center and invented numbers that stated that it would use five times the power it would actually use last week? And that was 5x the total power it could ever possibly use without even taking into account that they are building the largest private Solar grid ever built to help power it and using fuel cells and lots of other technologies to lower it's actual grid impact? Since when does inventing information and/or outright lying to people make you a source that should be given any credit in the first place?

You know this is exactly what we are saying in Europe. It doesn't matter how much energy we save or green we go as Americans are addicted to coal and wont admit that they are as much of a problem as China is. Check wikipedia to see how much you guys pollute.

Wonder if this campaign was produced on computers that use non-polluting chemicals (i.e. silicon, gallium, lead, etc.) that is powered entirely using natural (solar, wind) power.

If not, then Greenpeace is just as guilty as Apple is.
