[citation][nom]james_8970[/nom]And likewise, stupid people are stupid. How often did you listen to your parents when you were a kid? How often do you do commit a deviant act that you know is wrong, yet you do it anyways? Just because there is a norm, doesn't mean people will follow it, especially kids. Kids make mistakes and often don't think about the consequences of their actions. If a kid is playing a game and the ball goes on the road, chances are a lot of young children will chase after it without thinking about the potential hazards.[/citation]
When I see a ball rolling in the middle of the road I generally start breaking since its pretty obvious someone will follow.
Parenting does change a whole lot of things. When I was a kid I never ran across a street without checking for cars first. Were I live we have a small ghetto (subsidized housing), thats the only place in the whole town where you can see children running in the middle of the street like headless chickens. I drive at like 20 MPH on that road because of it. Im not saying that every kid will listen, but most of them will. This is not a matter of not eating the cookie, its life and death.
