GT740M Vs. 7670M (GDDR3)

Hi,

There are currently two laptops I am looking at, one has a GT740M (DDR3) and the other has the 7670M (DDR3) yet I am having serious difficulty finding specs of the 740M that are correct as so many websites show it with different specs.

The CPU's are identical so are is the RAM (6GB) and screen size (15.6) I will be upgrading the ram to 8GB when I get it.

Can anyone tell me which one would be better for gaming purposes? I found a comparison between the 7670M and the GT650M and the 650 was the clear winner but I don't know anything about the 740M and what its based off.

The 740m is comparable to the 650m, whereas the 7670 is comparable to the 640m. Go for the 740m for better performance.

But I think 740M, performs like 640M, is a little better than 7670M. I am guessing, is your CPU is i5 or i7? And tell us the budget. Seems I have a better choice for ya.

The CPU is a i7-4700

740m is almost twice as fast as the 7670m. ~1200 3dmark 11 score for 7670m vs ~2000 for the 740m

Lenovo is providing great deals. Its 750M (of course better than 740M) GPU even has GDDR5 memory and PRICES GOOD. Even in its mother country there is no such good deal.

7670M is ranked 166th

Id suggest a custom build w/ 750M (ranked 66th) minimum for gaming

Guys don't forget when comparing the two... One could be DDR3 1GB and the other could be DDR5 with 2GB.

I know for a fact that it would be impossible to upgrade the CPU however what about GPU? Could I upgrade it later on or is it soldered on too?

Only in Desktop could upgrading CPU & GPU be possible. For laptop? Forget about it. The Lenovo gaming laptop is enough for u in least 2-3 yrs.
