GTX 960 vs GTX 980

I would like some advice about these two laptops:

Asus ROG G751JY Intel Quad Core i7-4720HQ 16GB NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980M 1TB + 128GB SSD WiFi 17.3" LED FullHD - G751JY-T7186H
1600 euros.

ASUS I7 4720 HQ 16GB RAM GeForce GTX960M 4 GB DDR5 HDD 1 TB MONITOR:15,60 '' IPS FHD Windows 8.1, Home, Bit S.O. : 64
1000 euros.

I guess the main difference is in the GTX 980. Is this worth 600 € more?
Perhaps, for gaming the GTX 960 will be obsolete a way before the GTX 980.

If your spending that much money and if this is for gaming, which I'm guessing it is. Just get a desktop.
More upgrade options, power, and efficiency for the $$$
