gx60 vs p150em $500 price difference

If you had to choose between the gx60 for $950 or a p150em that comes with equivalent features (matte screen, blu ray, upgraded wireless, hd7970m) and the i7-3630qm for $1500, which would you pick? I've heard kaveri is fm2 compatible so it might be possible to upgrade to that for the gx60 when it comes out. That's not a sure thing to me though and I'm unsure of how kaveri will compare to the current gen Intel processors or to haswell. Then again, if I got the clevo, I would likely never have to upgrade. Thoughts? I like fps games but bf3 is fairly CPU intensive and as games get more complex, I can see them being more demanding of the CPU. Will the a10-4600m be good enough for any future fps games down the line?

Buy what you can afford. I personally would get the GX60 for ~$950 over a $1.5k laptop, but that is just me. I would rather save that $500 for other things or to save up for a newer laptop in a few years. It's up to you. If you want more CPU power I would go with the p150em, but is it worth the $500 more?? That is up to you. I use my laptop for everything a computer is required, but I do prefer to have a good gaming experience, if at all possible. My needs are probably different than yours, so you will have to weigh your needs more than my needs.

Yeah the GX60 at <$1000 is definitely tempting. It is somewhat of a gamble since I would definitely want to upgrade the CPU. The P150EM I would most likely leave as is. The GX60 would be a gamble on Kaveri since I don't know how well Kaveri will perform. I've read that Kaveri will use FM3 sockets but will still be FM2 compatible but how compatible it will be with the GX60 is still in the air. Richland is not enough of an upgrade to be worth the effort from my opinion. In case I'm unable to upgrade the CPU later on down the line, I basically have 2 concerns:

1) how capably will this run BF3 multiplayer on ultra 1920x1080?
2) how capably will this machine run FPS games in the future? I generally don't play CPU intensive games though I've heard that BF3 multiplayer can be moderately taxing on the CPU.

Well if you look at Tom's review here. I would think you should be fine with the GX60. I would rather use the $500 for either upgrading the mSATA drives or for other things that you may need. I personally would just get the GX60 and use it until your not happy with it. I think it should do quite fine for quite a bit, but that is just my opinion. The P150EM is a good laptop too, but is quite a bit more for not too much more gaming performance. It will do better in other tasks, but are those differences really a game changer? That is up to you.
