Looks amazing.
I'm sure I'll get voted down because "Halo was a terrible port to PC" or whatever, but as a 360 owner I must say I'm excited.

More like not even ported to pc (halo 3) 😀. I guess it makes sense because most pc fps games have free online, and MS wants ppl to pay for live.
 
What the hell are you talking about Halo CE on the PC was so much better than it was on xbox. The online play was free and to this day it's still running!!

You forgot bloom and blur. There is usually major use of these to hide low textures or use stuff like depth of field to make it more "realistic" even though it just blurs everything around you. Running only at 720p is also a big boost.

Make that 600p or 576p, many games are upscaled to 720p.

Do you have any idea how small even 720p is on a 17" 1280x1024 monitor? Extremely entry level gamers run resolutions higher than the consoles render natively, and yet the consoles STRETCH the graphics onto 26-70" screens (average is probably 32-42 though) ...and yet they still praise the graphics when a new game comes out.

Ya, once you play on a good pc for a while at 1080p or 1200p native at 60fps it is hard to go back to 576-720p locked at 30fps. Not to mention P2P online just makes me rage in my socks... Online multi player should always have some type of admin in games.
 
Also, while the 7800GTX is an old GPU, it's still fairly powerful. According to the GPU hierarchy chart, it's around a HD 4670 - which will run just about every game on medium settings at 1280x720.

The real miracle is how they manage to make it look so good with so little of a frame buffer - 512MB ram is shared between the CPU and GPU.

I agree with you there. I really like the PS3 though for offering free online play and keyboard support in some games for a good price while not making me want to tear my eyes out like most Quake 3-based games nowadays.

Well the kids gotta learn to do is someway, and I'd rather they learn in their own home then in the streets, assassinations are nothing to take lightly!

Ya, but the RSX is a crippled 7800GTX 512 but then with only a 256mb buffer. On the hierarchy charts, the 7800GTX is actually just one tier below the 4650 DDR3, which is a bit slower than than the 4670 (I think it's 625 core vs 750?) I'm guessing that the RSX is about as powerful as a 4650 DDR2 and the Xenos gpu is about as powerful as the 4670 or 4650 DDR2. One thing that I am curios about though is this: How did ATI squeeze SO MUCH performance out of Xenos' 48 shaders?
 
I might have been more interested if they would make Halo 3 and OSTD (or whatever the hell its called) for the PC as well. Hmm, does Halo 2 work on Windows 7 or is it still only for Vista?
 
This is SO awesome!

Because this is a Microsoft product, that means us Windows7 users will get to play these awesome games since MS created the "Games for Windows" brand and want people to experience DX11.

I JUST CAN'T WAIT for these to come out so we can use these on our quad-core CPUs with 2009~2010 graphics cards!


Oh yeah. I forgot.

Microsoft doesn't support games for Windows.

So remember... when there are no cool 3D games left to buy for your PC, buy a Playstation 4.
