Hard Drive Defect? Anyone have this happen to them.....

......, there is a defect (for lack of a better word at this time) when
I record and play back programs. Theres a tranparet squiggly line
which covers half the screen, that slowly moves across the screen. It
pauses on the pause function.

Is this the result of the heads contacting the platter at some time in
the past? I just set this up after purchasing off of eBay. It's a
34hr 3030 Replay unit. Pehraps I should get a larger HD and upgrade?

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

More like a problem with the tuner. If the heads have crashed into the
platter your problems would be much worse like the unit not booting at all.
