US Cellular data plans SUCK! Oh wow, check out the 3G and 4G speeds! But don't use it - because we'll only allow you to DL 2GB a month for $25.

I avoid using the 3G on my phone, its most work out is GPS and very light web usage... hence, I could care less about 4G.

I swear, that much data on a phone in america would cost about 1 million dollars on some of these rip off providers.

Thankfully I have T-Mobile and I get unlimited data (on my phone). The only downside is that they throttle the speed down after I use it too much but I'd rather have slower speeds than a bill that with overages. Seriously the amount they charge is complete punishment.

One time I got a bill that claimed we didn't have unlimited texting and it was $500. Spent 2 hours on the phone yell at some poor mexican lady. Initially they were just gonna give me like $350 back and I was like NO, your not listening to me, I have unlimited texting and I want ALL of my money back. I waited on hold most of the time and 2 hours to fix a stupid billing problem that I didn't cause was total BS. Other than that I still refuse to change carrier's cause the others don't have unlimited data plans and also cost WAAAY too much.

In the USA, we have the technology and infrastructure to deliver the bandwidth. Unfortunately greed way surpasses technological innovation in this country. Seeing this just make me hate AT&T, Verizon, etc even more.

It's OUR technology. Unfortunately, OUR political system, with lobbyists and all, does not allow US use it to its fullest. Why do the frequency band leases have to be exclusive when the protocols allow multiple providers in the same band? To EXCLUDE the competition. It works differently in many other countries. Want to provide service in this band (for these phones)? Go ahead and provide, just make sure you follow the protocols. Competition rules!

[citation][nom]Jenome[/nom]1wk = 7 days = (7x24hrs) 168hrs = (168x60mins) 10080mins = (10080x60secs) 604800secs419gb = (419x1024mb) 429056mb429056mb/604800secs = 0.709mb/s Probably u should actually calculate be4 making sweeping statements.[/citation]

0.709 MB/s = 5.54 Mb/s. You should learn the difference between MB and Mb.

I just got a $9.00 dollar overage fee for being 6Gb over my 100GB cap. I received a notification that I was over my cap limit on the first day of the new month.

Hey, its not American technology. Last I checked GSM was developed in Europe by ETSI(Sweden and Finland mostly Nokia and Ericsson). LTE again is not US tech either. Developed by 3GPP a global organization. You can have CDMA.... Which is mostly not used in Russia, except for Skylink and 2 other local operators. The article was talking about MegaFon...

Even better! Damn, US Internet sucks even more than I thought 😀

GSM is not relevant to the article, it would never achieve this speed. 3G for GSM providers (UMTS) uses W-CDMA air protocol. Look inside all of the smartphones and 3G modems. Qualcomm.

Personally, I would be running 4G for my home network right now if there was unlimited data without throttling. Too bad for you, wireless providers, Time Warner is now taking your business. 😛

Yeah, but you live in Romania. I'd rather have dial-up and stay in the US.

I wish there was that speed on telmex mexico... we have over here 3536Mbits we must pay 60bucks for that 🙁 . I wish some country killed our goverment.
