HD Movie Editing and Burning in same quality

I have recorded my video files in HD format. Now I want to burn the same on to DVD without compromising video and audio quality. How can I edit and burn my videos. Pl. guide me as to which free DVD burning software is available on net.

unfortunately if you intend on the target audience to use DVD Players you will have to drop the quality from HD to SD. It can still be widescreen but you would need to use a bluray burning to allow the viewer to see 720p or 1080i content.
