hello all,

i am having issues with my laptop, im trying to figure out if this is a hardware or software issue but i feel it may be a hard drive or motherboard issue. My laptop is a toshiba satellite running windows 7 64. this is what happened/ what ive done

-laptop reststarts on its own while in use
-after rebooting i get the blue screen of death, before i can read it, LT shuts down
-i manually turn on the LT, power comes on, fan turns, feels like HD is turning but hen goes quiet, dont evern see the manufactuer screen or boot screen. no display at all, let the LT sit for awhile, nothing.
-manually power cycle the LT (holding down power for 5 seconds), still does the same thing, turns on but wont boot at all, also no audio so i know its not the screen
-i remove the HD and battery, put in another HD from my gf LT and boots up fine
-put in original HD, boots up then shuts down again
-i remove the battery and reinstall, turn on and LT boots up, i run safe mode, but freezes while booting windows. manual restart
-boots up and i run system repair, get another blue screen of death, says i have software/hardware that caused it (i have a pic of the screen if u need to see it
-i try and reboot but npot doing the thing where power goes to the LT but wont boot, dead screen

i think it may be a motherboard problem or a HD problem,

any advise? do you know what it may be??

thanks in advance 😛

It's certainly possible it's your hard disk, but it's somewhat unusual for a HDD to make the machine not POST.

I would run a hard disk diagnostic and memtest to ensure your memory and hard disk are in good working order. Good utilities can be found on the Ultimate Boot CD.

Your computer automatically restarting can be caused by heat issues. Make sure you clean out the notebook's fans and heatsinks with compressed air.
