HDMI Connections for audio

I have a Marantz NR 1403 with HDMI and a Sony DVD Player DVP NC 685V without HDMI.
No TV. I just want music. Is there a way to connect these 2 (adopter of some kind?) or must I get a new DVD Player that has HDMI ports?

you could connect via rca... or optical/coax if your dvd player supports that. your receiver has these connections.

Both the receiver and DVD/CD have analog L/R RCA connections that will work fine but you will get better sound if you use the coax or optical connection which is also on both. This will allow you to take advantage of the superior digital to analog converters in the Marantz receiver. You will get more detail and dynamics with a more open presentation.
