HDMI doesnt work. help!

I have a toshiba satellite laptop. my HDMI port is not working. the laptop wont recognize it and my tv wont either. tv works fine as well as the HDMI cable. please help!!

Make sure your video output key has been pressed to external or internal/external mode. Usually one of your function keys.
