HDMI Stealing audio in sound

I have just purchased a Asus MX279 Monitor and connected my computer by HDMI. I before had a Samsung TV as a monitor and was able to use both HDMI and connect a separate speaker system to the TV using audio in. The new monitor has an audio in port but does not give sound to my speaker system because the HDMI is the only source of audio playing. How do i get my sound to the monitor through HDMI while giving sound to my speakers through the monitors Audio in port?

Connect your speakers directly to the PC, and from VOlume properties select on-board sournd card as "default"
