Headphone adapter doesn't fit into ports

Hey so I've been trying to get my mic on my headphones to work (hyperx cloud 2) and there are 2 ports on my PC. One for headphones and one for microphone. It works if I plug it into the headphones slot but then only the headphones work and the mic doesn't and Vice versa. I have an adapter thing that I plug my headphones into and it has 2 jacks coming out I assume that's for making it work for headphones and a mic right? Yeah well if doesn't fit. My case is 570x is that matters

If it does not fit, you got the wrong adapter or something is broken. Are you maybe trying to use the airplane adapter that looks like this with the computer?
