Question Headphone cord snagged onto desk, now sound is distorted.

I was listening to a lecture with my noise cancelling headphones and when I got up with my headphones on, the aux cord snagged onto my desk, almost yanking out the cord from both the headphone and my laptop, but neither got loose, so it must've been at an angle.

Now everything is at lower volume, and while music seems to play decent, voices are extremely distorted.

Is this likely an issue with my headphones themselves or could an aux cord replacement fix it? Earbuds work on my laptop and the headphones don't on a different laptop so I've isolated the issue to either headphone or the cord.
