Headphones, Sound Cards, Headphone AMP

Good Day!

well i was thinking on getting a new headphones and at first i chose the http/www.amazon.com/Logitech-Wireless-Gaming-Headset-Surround/dp/B003VANOFY

then i pondered more and realized that i wanted the http/steelseries.com/us/products/audio/steelseries-siberia-v2-frost-blue or this one http/steelseries.com/us/products/audio/steelseries-siberia-v2-natus-vincere-edition. so after that, i also asked myself, what happened to pc sound cards? why never did i thought about pc sound cards before? werent they that important back in the days? so i surfed around and found out(my understanding) that they still produce sound cards and they make sound way better. so should i get one? would it be a good idea? what are the PROS and CONS?

AND lastly, since i "PLAN" on spending above mediocre sum of cash for sound, would u suggest i should get a headphone amplifier? does it come in USB too? if i should, what specific model or brand would you suggest?

P.S.
This isnt happening anytime soon yet since first i need to have a headset. but the headset that i REALLY want was the frost v2 which has a glowing light. so i need to get a keyboard, mouse first. and i want them to match up with the lights too. so yeah. thats my plan. but not all plans happen exactly as it should .

I'm confused. What is it exactly you want? Sound card? Headphones? Headsets? Is this for music listening or gaming?

i wanted a headset for gaming/music. but more into gaming. and the SOUNDCARD and HEADPHONE AMP are just.. well. my compulsion. but i do want them too.

Do you have a budget?

What do you mean by "all together"? Like if you play a song, it plays it on both your headset, speakers, and monitor? I guess if your program can supply all those channels at the same time, but I don't know of any off the top of my head.

well, sorry for making things a bit hard to understand. i was talking about making them all work together. like if im listening to music, or playing a game. im curious if it is possible to make all sound come out at all outputs.i want to make use of my monitor speakers thats why.

the only thing i have done was make each output( monitor, speakers and headset) application exclusive. means each output gets sound from specific applications. like headset for skype, speakers for games and monitorspeaker for something else. like mumble or ventrillo or teamspeak.

I answered that. If your application can output to multiple audio channels, then yes. I personally do not know any. So like VLC won't do it. You can only set one. I guess if you're running Linux, you can have a running script that broadcasts it to multiple audio devices.

while true that soundcards do offer better sound than integrated solutions quite a few motherboards have pretty darn good onboard sound so the difference is not night and day unless you are a real audiophile. the difference would be more noticible if you bought good speakers or a good pair of headphones. typically i suggest you use the onboard solutions unless you have need of a soundcard (ie, you have electronic static noise or the sound quality is very bad).

you do not need an amp for the headset you want to buy. if you were planning on buying a $300 pair of studio headphones then yes. a good portable amp is made by fiio in case you wanted information but you do not want to buy one for your purpose (they are for higher quality stereo headphones).

personally i suggest getting a good pair of headphones from sennheiser or audiotechnica if you are serious about good sound. pc headsets work fine for what they are meant for but audiophile quality they are not.

typically computers export sound out via headphones or speakers at one time not both. if you have a 2.1 set and stereo headphones you can use a 3.5mm splitter and it should play on both. you can use a 5.1 set with a splitter on the front audio side and it may work although you may not get what sound you want coming from the headset (since voices are typically center channel only). i've heard of possible solutions but nothing that i've heard of worked.

monitor speakers suck. do yourself a favor and disable them.

i treat pms the same way i treat posts. if i can solve them i will if i cannot i cannot. i dont feel guilty about not being able to solve some random issue but in general most of the time i get pmed about some long forgotten post i was involved in.

maybe you get so many because your name is (or at least was earlier today) on the front page of tomes hardware as an expert

Oops. Sorry. My reply didn't come through. I didn't press the enter hard enough last night. But thanks for the enlightenment. I decided that I should get a sound card next time I build a pc from scratch. Just for the sake of experience. And I wanna see the difference first hand. Now on my choices of headset. What would u suggest. I really wanted the snow blue because it lights up or the natus vincere Siberia v2 just because I'm a team NaVi fanboy. Just need a little push. But option in choosing the g930 or g35 is still open.
