Hello,

I recently got a headset with a microphone, and am having major issues. I have uninstalled/ reinstalled the drivers, Windows 10 was just installed so I cannot really roll back the updates, have an adapter to split the input/output into my pc, and have tested the mic on my phone (it works on my phone). The microphone picks up noise sometimes but it is all static, no sound of my voice. I have also played with volume boost settings. The headphone portion is working splendid. I also tried plugging in the jack without the adapter into the microphone slot; same issue (I tried all slots on my tower by the way). FYI my computer does not have RealTek drivers.

https://pcpartpicker.com/list/XGMmpG this is my PC (cooling is now liquid; cooler master 240mm TR4). I heard it is possible it is a power supply issue or read on another thread "not to cross wires" but was confused by what this meant???

The headset I got is this https://www.amazon.com/RAZER-DESTINY-MANOWAR-TOURNAMENT-Line/dp/B073RSWTG7/ref=pd_rhf_gw_p_img_6?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=5SHJBG7FDVFZN53DG93F.

I hope you guys can help I am rather frustrated at this point. Thanks a bunch.

Solution
Test the headset on another computer using the adapters if needed for the PC. If not, did you contact razer support to see if it's an issue with the headset or cable maybe? Phone and PC connections are different your PC probably has separate Mic and Headphone jacks, Phone are all in one.

I will try this, though the adapter is designed to split this all-in-one cable (https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B071NDLCGC/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1). This allows for a mic and headset input. The microphone still does not work.

Also, should the headset microphone not work if it is plugged into the microphone slot? From what I read online this is usually the issue.

Hello all,

Actually I WAS missing a driver from my mobo's website (could have sworn I downloaded them all but I missed the RealTek one). When I installed it the mic and headset were working, but the mic was picking up my computer output. I tried every solution (making sure the "Listen to this device" option was unchecked, disabling "Speaker Mix" and everything) and couldn't figure it out, but when I restarted my computer it suddenly works as it should. *shrugs*. I likely needed this adapter anyway, and it works now. Thanks all for the help!
