Hi,

I was looking to get a new laptop and I decided to go with the Acer Helios 300 (predator). As far as I understand the difference between the older (2017) and the newer model are as follows:

- i7-8750h (2018 model) VS i7-7700hq
- sRGB at 98% (2018 model) VS sRGB < 70%
- 16 GB RAM DDR4 2600 Mhz (2018 model) VS 2400 Mhz
- More recent SSD for the 2018 model

The thing is where I live the difference in price between the two models is about of 322 euros (about 378 US dollars). Given the price difference, should I go for one or the other?

Thank you.

I think It's definitely worth the extra money for the upgrade so I would buy the 2018 one. 8th gen CPU will give you much better performance than 7th gen.
You forgot to mention 144hz screen (2018) vs 60hz (2017) which is also a huge difference, and fans/cooling seem to be improved too.

If it's between those two, go with 2018. I think it's worth it because other laptops with the same specs are more expensive.

Yeah going with the 2018 version was a good choice.

Things 2018 version has than the 2017:

- NVMe vs SATA
- 144hz vs 60hz
- 6 cores vs 4 cores
- 500MHz faster on average
- Gigabit WiFi
