Just called jbl support and they mentioned the flip 4 and the flip 3 are not compatible. The flip 3 uses Connect and Flip 4 uses Connect+. A software update won’t fix the issue as the flip 3 hardware is not compatible.

can't guarantee if it works or not, try to connect your both Flip 3 and 4 via stereo micro USB cable from X-mini.
