help comparing these laptops

I was just wondering which of these laptops is better. I will be using it for university and will constantly be carrying it around. I will also be doing light gaming at times and require it to be capable of doing this.

The HP Envy laptop has a better graphics card but a lower resolution screen than the Dell. It has a much longer battery life, at 9.5 hours, but it is heavier than the Dell (HP is 2.49kg vs Dell which is 2.06kg). The HP has superior onboard speakers by far. Besides the GPU, specs-wise the two are nearly identical, with 16GB of RAM on the Dell and 12GB on the HP - both of which are more than enough for the vast majority of users.

I would personally pick the HP due to better multimedia capabilities and excellent reported battery life.

It depends on if you want the 4k screen. Content will look better but will come at the price of battery life. As you are a light gaming the gpu's won't matter unless you are picky about the settings.
