[HELP!!!] Laptop boots properly, but laptop screen is black.

Yesterday I closed the laptop's monitor without shutting it down. When I opened it the screen went black. I tried to move the cursor to see the display but it stayed black. I just pressed the power button and tried to open up the laptop again but the screen was still black, but I can hear the laptop running in the background and the sound when you adjust the volume but the screen is just black.

I tried to remove the battery then holding the power button but it was no use. I tried to connect to our TV using hdmi and I can see the windows 8 properly in the tv screen. The only problem is the laptop's screen it's just black. I don't know what else to do please help me.

as your tv works with the laptop then it appears the laptop screen died. what is the make & model# of the laptop?

It is an HP Pavilion g6.
