I know very little about laptops. What I do know is I want one that is Microsoft (not Apple), has 16GB memory (I was told anything less will be too slow), somewhere between 14 - 16 inches, and preferably under $400.
I went to Best Buy and found some that fit this criteria but I quickly became confused when finding out they were all in Microsoft S mode, which sounds aweful.
I will primarily be using it for writing on Word, accessing emails, and the occasional website surfing. I do 95% of my internet-related activities on my phone. I have a Microsoft 365 Accoubt already.
