I checked out all the Futureshop laptops the other day and found that the only good portable laptop that is somewhat capable is the Lenovo U410 or U310. The U410 is nicer in design and only marginally larger than the U310.

The build quality was top notch, the keyboard was very tactile (Lenovo tradition). The screen was good, some of the ultrabooks there had extremely washed out screen colours. The hinge was strong and stiff (some of the other ones, Samsung especially had flimsy hinges, after a year or two of portable use, I'd suspect it won't stay open by itself anymore).

I know this is just outside your budget, but it goes on sale for 729.00 once in a while (was last week)...

The U310 was on sale for 679.00 last week:

Either is good, and are very similar, but the U410 is a bit better designed and sleeker in my opinion, due to location of ports, slots, etc.
