Hi,
Insane amount of choice and different computing options available these days, and have fallen into the indecisive trap by researching too heavily and letting research consume me, but still no better decision, it has just made me more indecisive...
I suppose this is more than just 'which laptop?' because I have several options:
(Also worth a mention - I have an iPhone 5, so mini-tablet in a way...)
- Tablet Hybrid (eg. Acer Aconia W700 (WISH it had a snap on keyboard like the W510 which just made it into a laptop, if it did I probably wouldn't be typing this, and would be eagerly awaiting)
- Tablet + cheaper laptop (eg. Nexus 7 and Acer S3 ultrabook? But if I have an ultrabook what is the value of having a tablet? I have an iphone 5...)
- Ultrabook (Acer S3 - save some money, or more premium with a nicer screen to watch downloaded films and TV series on...)
- I've even thought about getting top range ipad and then a keyboard case which turns it into a semi-laptop replacement, as the new ipad has a beautiful retina screen which can't be replicated in budget range by any ultrabook. Put off this idea though by lack of ability to download videos from the web, and basic functionality of iWork (so I've heard)
See - the options are silly and its starting to stress me out a bit! Haha.
What am I looking to do?
- Download videos and play them on a nice screen whilst sat on my sofa (so Acer W700 kind of falls down due to the options I have to put it on my lap?!)
- Reading content (so this is why I have considered tablets
- Although portability isn't huge, I think when I go on hols it would be nice to take, and think the weight and size of ultrabooks even for casual use around the house would be a pro)
- Work - not heavy use, but this was the original concept for buying a laptop in the first place - I am in the process of setting up my own company so lots of research, some excel sheets, word processing, etc. Whilst sat on my sofa (I'm going to be busy so want to be comfortable whilst I'm putting the hours in!). My current desktop is old and on its way out, and I have to physically go into another room, boot it (takes quite a while!), sit on an uncomfortable chair, etc!
I did fill in the standard template for choosing a laptop, but the post became huge, and think this is more about the different options as I've not even decided for sure I want a laptop yet! But let me know if you want me to do this.
Help would be hugely appreciated, as I will never end up making a decision!
Thanks
