Ok, at 36 I am going back to school to finish my degree. I'm horrible at making decisions...especially when I'm spending a lot of money. My old Gateway has made it 5 years now and I've replaced the power jack once....and now it is starting to die again. I need a new laptop. I would like to stay around 15" for a compromise between portability and screen real estate. I will be travelling with it 30% and at home around the house 70% of the time. I would like good battery life, a NICE screen...lean towards matte, GOOD wifi strength, decent speaker sound, and overall reliability. I will be doing programming, website development, database, photoshop, and some video editing. I tend to heavily multi-task. I'm not a gamer. I have tested a few keyboards at BB and feel comfortable with the HP Pavilion and Toshiba Satellite. I can't find a Dell XPS or the Samsung to try. My first draw was to the HP because of the amazing specs you can get for the price. I also liked the keyboard and finish. BUT, reliability scares me. I have considered going ahead with it and then opting for a SquareTrade warranty. What are your thoughts on this? Or, which one of these do you believe would work best for me?
