Help me decide: ASUS G73JH or MSI GX660?

Both systems hardware configured for a total price tag of ~ $1 500.

For that money, I'll get an i5 instead of i7, paired with an HD 5870. How big of difference is the i5 vs i7 in notebooks of this tier?

Please help me weigh out the pros and cons respectively.

Purpose: some gaming (ie. not Crysis on max settings but enough to get by most games with fairly high settings), multimedia (movie and music playback), school work (ranging from email to CAD assignments and the like)

I think ASUS G73JH is better than MSI GX660

Both are great laptops.
GX660 is more portable and has a better battery life,whereas G73 has a better display and keyboard.

Actually MSI "G" series have got pretty good reviews.

Have you looked at the GX660R? It has the FHD screen, Bluray, i7 740qm, and all packaged in a 15" form factor giving you a chance at actually carrying this thing around.

I'm having the same dilemma as you but between the GX660R and the soon to be released G53 that will also be a 15"...

How about asus G73JW-A1 ? just my two cents.
