Solved! help! my computer has a faded background and a line right across the screen

so i was playing a steam game and i opened my in-game overlay to turn off the fps counter and suddenly a line appears right across the screen and also when i got out of the game there is still a faded picture of the actual game around the edges and it wont go!!pls help

what happened after reboot the laptop?

i panicked after the line appeared and first thing that came to my mind was that rebooting would take away the line and faded pic and i did reboot the pc but it stayed the exact same except that the faded game picture and the line is on the lock screen but on the desktop the line is only there but not the faded game pic.

shut it down for a few minute before turn it back on.
if you still see the line possible the screen is busted
