Help Purchasing a Laptop capable of Playing Games

Hey,

I'm getting the run around from my friends about which laptop to purchase. Some are saying Toshiba. Some HP, and some Asus. I have no freaken idea what to look for. I just want a regular quality laptop that is capable of playing games if I choose to. It also has to be capable of video editing programs.

The thing is, I have to purchase it at QVC.com so I can only order from this website. I have no credit so I can't order from the more popular retailers. $1500 would probably be my limit. Can someone help me?

That's a bit on the high end, no? Anything around 1000-15000? 12gbs of RAM seems like an awful lot.
