Hey guys,

Am looking at purchasing a gaming laptop and have a few queries as per below:

1) Looking around at the available options, I've noticed that plenty of laptops are still using the 4th generation Haswell processors. Should I be looking to get one with the latest 5th generation Broadwell processor?

2a) How would a GTX 870M 6GB stack up against the GTX970M 3GB?

2b) Would something like the GTX 940/960 be able to run DOTA2 at ultra settings (120fps) or would a 970 be required?

3) Any recommendations for mid/high range gaming PC?

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!!

Looking at around $1,400usd, 15".

Would you suggest to go for 5th gen or 4th gen processors?

With only a 5% difference between the generations, it wouldn't matter to me personally which generation a particular laptop had, if I liked everything else about the laptop.

For a gaming laptop the 4th gen cpus are still good. The gpu is generally want you want to be wary off.

The gtx 970m is the second best gpu from nivida so it should give better fps than the 870m.

The gt 940m can play dota 2 on utlra easily. This obviously means that the stronger cards can handle this game.

Finally it depends on the games that you play as a laptop with a gt 940m is quite cheap.
