Help selecting my first TV

Hi guys, i am going to upgrade from the old crt to the modern one for the first time (dont be shocked ). I live in Chennai, India. My minimum requirements are :

It should be 3D.


It should be able to use my internet connection.


40 inch minimum


LED, LCD or whatever is best.


As for the budget, the best tv for the buck is my answer.


It should be able to use Digital TV ( my dad said that, does anyone know what he meant?)

Any current flat screen hd tv will have a digital TV receiver so that is not an issue.

42-46 inch is probably the size you will find.

LCD is a type of display, LED is the type of lighting (the industry has marketed in a way that is a little confusing so dont feel bad about not knowing). There is two main types of TVs on the market today, plasma and LED LCD, but there still may be some old stock of plain LCD. If you have good curtians on the windows and make the room almost completley dark in the daytime then Plasma will be better. It has richer blacks, a better picture overall, no refresh rate issues and is cheaper; its biggest weakness is that it gets washed out very easily if you have any glare/light in the room. If your room gets a moderate amount of light into it durring the day you will want LED.

You will want to get at least 120hz refresh rate, and if your budget allows for it a 240 hz is even better (this is how many times per second the tv updates).

Brand names are user preference, I would just stick to a name brand (samsung, sony, vizio, lg, etc).

I would point you to some TVs but i have no idea what are good vendors there to know what is even available to you.
