A while back I replaced my laptop HDD with an SSD. It worked great, however shortly after replacing it, the battery stopped working. I can now only use my laptop when the charger is plugged in. Probably because I didn't take out the battery before replacing the hard drive...... So how do I fix this?

With a new battery.
Before buying a new one, try it with the old HDD just to see if the new drive is causing problems, but you just perfectly described a bad battery.

Are you sure there isn't a way to fix this without buying a new battery? I had the laptop for at least a year working fine, all until I replaced the hard drive. Also went to update bios and it says the battery isn't plugged in.

Maybe try getting dust out of the slot with some canned air (not sure how your port works, but some have pins I wouldn't want to bend).
Did you try the old HHD? It's enormously unlikely, but worth a shot.

I don't know if using the old hard drive would even work. The SSD worked in the PC fine for a month or so. Also I just took it out and tried booting twice. Didn't work. Will try the canned air.

I believe it was from 2014. Not too old. :/

Quick edit: didn't mean to add that in particular as the best answer haha. Clicked by mistake I guess.

Yeah I learned that one a few months too late haha
